Trailing plants like lobelia can do well round the edges, with taller flowers (possibly primroses) in the middle. I put trailing strawberries in mine which did OK.
Strawberries do. You can put any plants in baskets. Make an herb garden. Devils Ivy and airplane plants are ideal in hanging baskets. But try Strawberries, bugs can't eat them.
