Which is a better pet a cockatiel or a lovebird?

From personal experience, lovebirds are more cuddly and loving whereas cockatiels are more entertaining and funny. That is not to say that cockatiels aren't friendly and lovebirds aren't entertaining, it just depends what you are looking for. Personally, I had a lovebird and he was the sweetest thing in the world and wouldn't change that experience.

Cockatiel are loud and annoying, i own one these birds before. If i were you i rather pick lovebirds as a pet, they are easier to take care off and easy to handle. The only advantage of the cockatiel as a pet is their colors and their size.

It would depend on what you are looking for in a bird. I have found that cockatiels are good for companionship and have the ability to mimic words or whistles, so keep in mind, they are noisy. Lovebirds are great for nuzzling or tricks and do not learn to talk or whistle. Both birds are best purchased young.

Lovebirds seem to bond closely to their caretaker. Make sure you socialize with them daily to give them the attention they want and keep them bonded with you.
