You cannot dye hair to a lighter color. You're going to have to bleach it, which is an entirely seperate ball of wax. If you have never bleached your hair before, do NOT try to do it yourself. It's very easy to royally screw up your hair by bleaching it. Let a professional do it.

If you want to go blonde do NOT use box color(Loreal), it will end up frying your hair. You need to go to a salon and get it stripped.

Usually people with really dark hair,seeking to dye their hair blonde its more than a one step process. Because if they use just a hair dye from the store the result is orange hair. To prevent that I would go to a beauty supply store and consult with the associates there.

I would suggest going and having it professionally done. Going from dark to light can be tricky. If you don't use a strong enough lift it will be orange.

You cannot dye your own hair from dark brown to blonde. You have to have a professional do it. If you attempt it you will end up with orange or brassy looking hair. A hair dresser knows the correct color to use. They will take you through several processes to get you to blonde. Then they will apply a toner.
