It is usually located on the passenger inner-fender near the battery. To find it, follow the positive battery cable from the battery post over to the fender. The cable should stop at a relay/solenoid with two large connections and one or two smaller wire connections. The second large cable should go down to the starter. The solenoid is about fist-sized.

It is called a starter solenoid and is located on the inside fender well just behind the battery. The positive cable goes directly to it and this cable is unfused so be careful to disconnect the ground terminal on the battery first.

Starter relays were actually solenoids that connected the battery wire to the starter via the ignition switch. The solenoid is on the passenger wheel well behind the battery.

The starter solenoid will be located on the right (passenger) side fender well - just behind the battery. It'll have two large wires and one (or more) smaller wires.
