The Maldives are a actually a chain of islands (like Hawaii) that are located in the Indian Ocean to the southwest of Sri Lanka.

The Maldives are in the Indian Ocean. They are west of Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is in south Asia, off the south coast of India. Maldives are very tiny islands, so it's no surprise you're having trouble finding them.
