There are several things that couls cause lumps under a baby's nipples. First, make sure that you are not using a new brand of baby wash or laundry soap. Sometimes, these things can irritate the baby's delicate skin and cause a reaction. If you have rulled out a reaction, see your pediatritian.

Some baby's that are breastfed get hormones from the mother that can cause them to have breast tissue (I would assume this could look like lumps). If you baby is breastfed or recently weaned that is probably the issue. However you may want to check with your baby's doctor to be sure that there are no more substantial concerns.

This can be an infection, which usually seen in babies when they are one month or so. The is due to the lactogen content produced in baby nipples, same like the mother. If you see something milk or white milk like fluid coming out of it, you should consult the doctor

Clogged ducts are the main culprit behind lumps under nipples in babies. Try using a mild baby body wash free of any dyes or fragrances. If the condition does not improve, see your peditritian to rule out any other medical factors.

My pediatrician said that the lumps were caused by the mother's hormones that passed to the baby during birth. It's nothing to worry about and they will disappear over time.
