What was the government like in New Jersey in 1676?

New Jersey became the third state of the union in 1787. It became a crowned colony in 1702 under British rule.

New Jersey was one of the original 13 colonies, and in 1676, which was before the American Revolution and the ratification of the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution, New Jersey was, as the other colonies were under the rule of King George III of England. Objection to his rule was the cause of the Revolution.
