From 1837 to 1901 the Victorian era mixed good and bad. It was a complicated time when the middle class was growing consistently. Child labor was active.Darwin and Freud was active in promoting their views. People were modest and moral. The upper and middle classes were often extragavant.

Stiffling my good fellow! Sexual repression for women.But,for men the number of Brothels in London was outstanding!Of course, "decent couples" couldn't kiss or really even hold hands in public.If you really want a modern example -go to Iran.Today's Islam is equivalent to Victorian Times!

In Victorian times, people were a lot more separated from each other geographically, so it was more family oriented and less social.

Well basically there was no technology at that time. You had to do everything from scratch. Life was different. Women had no rights.
