It depends what you would like to fix on your car. Start with the basics socket kits(SAE), wrenches,screwdrivers and such.You'll find as you go that there's special tools you'll need.

You are just going to need a basic set of wrenches and some sockets and a ratchet. It ultimately depends on what you are trying to fix up because all jobs require different tools. If you are doing a control arm you are going to need a pitman arm puller.

That all depends on what you mean by "fix up". The tools needed for bodywork are different then those needed to rebuild the engine. You can get a idea of what tools you'll need by buying a how-to book about what you plan on doing to the car.
