Go with something that will last, and that you can wear again. No point in buying something you'll only wear once. Stay away from white, black and red, as these are seen as bad luck colors. Other than that, find something flattering and enjoy yourself!

Generally tea length or floor length will work for a formal wedding. Recommend you stay with a clean, classic look, you may be able to wear the dress again.

Avoid purchasing red, pure white, or black dresses as these are all inappropriate for a wedding. Additionally, do not choose anything overly flashy as this will be interpreted as rude. Aim for elegance and class as opposed to sexy.

If you know what color the wedding party is going to wear avoid that color as well as the color that the bride is wearing. If you are on a budget check bridal shops because they often have discounted dresses for VERY low prices.
