You will need to pass a license exam for the first of three levels, Technician. Then you will be given a call sign, used to identify yourself on the air. Morse Code is no longer required. Also, join a local ham radio club, or find an "Elmer" (mentor) to help.

Hams begins in amateur radio for some reasons. It started out as a shortcut for the word amateur radio. Friendship and convenience is the main purpose.

You should know that collecting ham radios is not the best thing that can be done. You should consider getting a better hobby. Ham radios are very expensive to keep buying.

A ham radio hobby, while very fun can get both expensive and time consuming. You will find that cost and time goes up the more you get in to it.

for starters you have to have a license in order to operate a ham radio and you also have to learn morse code in order to get you novice license
