A pedestal sink is not as sturdy as a cabinet type sink. You should be aware that it's not a good idea to put a lot of pressure on it when installed. You will also lose any storage that non pedistal sinks provide. Last, make sure that the wall benind the sink is clean and attractive, it will show.

Make sure that it is level and that the pipe coming up from the floor is hidden by the pedestal.
