The minister of the church where you want to have your child baptized will walk you through the steps you will need to know in order to have a nice ceremony. Then it will be your responsibility to choose your child's godparents and then invite them to come as well as any friends and family members.

You first need to talk to your priest and ask what the requirements are for that particular church. Then book the date. Choose your godparents with care, they need be religious and responsible. Select a white item of clothing for your child, and a white shawl. You may also have a small party.

Find out from your family when most of them can come. Then get with your church and plan from there. If you don't have room for guests, recommend a hotel for out-of-town family.

You need to go to a Church, and speak to either a priest or pastor, depending on denomination, and you will most likely have to go through a course about the reason for Baptism or Dedication. You will get a date and then you can let your family know.
