The types of hysterectomy includes Abdominal hysterectomy, Laparoscopic hysterectomy and Vaginal hysterectomy. The least invasive is Laproscopic hysterectomy and the most invasive is abdominal hysterectomy. Post surgical pain is managed by medication. Pain relief can also be obtained by placing a thin tube directly into incision during surgery. Oral pain relievers are given to control the pain.

Hysterectomy is the total or partial removal of uterus through open surgery or laparoscopic surgery. This results in considerable changes in hormonal levels. Patient has to stay in hospital for 2-3 days. Complete recovery takes about 2 weeks to 2 months time. Laparoscopic surgery involves less pain and faster recovery.
