You should expect the Pacemaker to relieve your cardiac symptoms. Your physician will fill you on on precautions you need to take and signs of potential problems. Generally, you will notice improvements to your general health as well as your mental health. Make a list of questions and make sure your doctor answers all of them. That's his job.

Generally, a pacemaker and a defibrillator are two different things (defibrillator is larger but has a pacemaker in it). One could expect a more normal heart rhythm where it neither beats too fast nor too slow.

Once the pacemaker defibrillator has been implanted, it will take some time to get used to its' being there, but it should become part of your life.

You can expect to stay in the hospital at least overnight. You may have tenderness in the area for a few weeks. Normal activities can typically be resumed in a few days, though vigorous activity and heavy lifting should be avoided for about a month.

Expect to be shocked automatically should your heart ever stop beating. Expect to live a slightly more easy going life so that your strawberry tart can take it easy.

As you are healing, you should expect to feel very tired and probably unusual. You should not participate in strenuous activity or spend extended time in water right away.
