Your child's toothpaste is specially formulated so that if they swallow a little they won't get sick. If they swallow a lot call your doctor.

A tiny amount of toothpaste won't hurt a toddler other than give them a mild tummy ache. If the child swallows alot then call a poison control center or E. R.

If he or she has only swallowed the amount used for brushing, it's not a problem, as long as it's not a frequent occurence. Contact Poison Control or a doctor if a large amount was ingested.

If it is toddler toothpaste, which is one without any fluoride, it is safe for them to swallow. If it is an adult tooth paste with fluoride, watch them closely. If they have digestive upset or appear ill, contact a doctor for evaluation. A small amount is safe, but a large amount can cause illness.
