There is going to be some pain and discomfort after the surgery, you shouldn't eat before hand, and be prepared to be drowsy for days. These types of health treatments are ambiguous at best, you should consult a physician before doing anything to "official" icy-hot pads are great, and fluids do as much as-the stereotype.

You will feel some pain and discomfort in the area. Also, you may be told that you need to change your lifestyle, most importantly the foods you eat, as greasy foods may not sit well with you. You will figure out which foods make you uncomfortable.

Adjusting of the diet is going to be the most important change to make, staying away from foods that are high in fat will be important. Bland meals are best until your body adjusts. Also, consult your doctor about constipation which will also occur after a gall bladder removal.

The stomach will be injected with air during the surgery so afterwards it feels like you have extreme gas, this last for several days. After the surgery you will notice that whenever you eat it will initiate a bowel movement within about 15 minutes. You should refrain from strenuos activity for several days to avoid pain in the abdomen.

Be prepared to stay off of your feet and plenty of bedrest. The last thing you want to do is damage the area and set you back.

Post-surgery recovery will take approximately 5 days before you feel "normal" again. You will not be able to eat large meals for some time. Heartburn should be very rare now.
