Question by  Curt (25)

What is wrong if my riding lawn mower will not disengage blade?

I need to fix it for safety reasons.

There is a problem with your centrifuge . This is a metal switch which allows the blade to drop or raise into position.

There may be something stuck between the blades. Turn the mower over and look for an obstruction. If you don't see any, you may have to oil the blades to see if that frees it up.

The mower may be clogged up with wet grass and debris from a previous mowing. Check the lever and switch to make sure it is not stuck.

That can be fixed by sending the mower back to the factory warehouse. Unfortunately for safety reasons I do not recommend fixing it by yourself.

I do believe that it may be time to turn your riding lawnmower over and check the blades themselves. Take the blades off of the lawn mower, and check them individually for problems.

There are several things that could cause your mower to not disengage blades. Check the belt size, make sure there is no rust in the pulleys and that none of them are bent.
