Travertine is nothing but rock, which is developed by the method of precipitation with the material such as carbonates and minerals from ground and surface water.

"Travertine is a terrestrial sedimentary rock, formed by the precipitation of carbonate minerals from solution in ground and surface waters." Taken from Wikipedia. If that's too confusing, then think of its as a sedimentary rock.
