What is "Translations by Brian Friel" about?

It's an Irish play.

This play takes place in a fictional village and mainly is about language, history and culture of the Irish. Although the setting is fictional, there is a definite possibility that Friel meant for this play to relate to modern times - as most good plays are timeless this way anyway.
