It is most likey a bagworm. You will notice a nest that looks like a big bag. They use the needles to make the nest for the larve and then eat at your tree. Your best bet is to get rid of the tree or get a pro in as soon as possible.

It is more than likely a Bag Worm and they can be very destructive. A permethrin-based insecticide will kill them. The earlier in the season that they are taken care of, the more effective it will be.

The insects eating your pine trees most likely resemble a worm or caterpillar but they are called pine saw flies. These are not actually worms or caterpillars, but a larvae type of fly. These sawflies are attracted to and eat pine needles. They can be controlled by the use of an insecticide.

The green European Pine Sawfly loves to munch on pine trees. They dine in groups and can kill a pine tree in a matter of days. Pine caterpillars live in the tops of pine trees and live in a white cone-shaped nest that can contain up to approximately 200!

Quite likely the insect which is consuming your pinetree is a caterpillar form of bagworm moth. These insects can be identified by their use of dead pine needles to construct 'bag like' nests in which they reside.

The worm-like insect eating your Pine is probably a type of Sawfly larvae. The Sawfly larvae will often consume needles at an alarming rate if left untreated. There are several types of Sawflies, but most general insecticides are labeled for these pests. You may also consider consulting your local tree care provider for accurate identification.

Bagworms live on pine trees and make their homes from dead needles and leaves. They live in their bag and eat plant foilage. Pick off the tree or use insecticide.
