As of 2009, the Fastest street legal car is the Maxximus G-Force. it has a 7 litre twin turbo charged Cheverolet V8 that puts out 1600 Brake Horse Power. 0-60 mph in just 2.1 seconds, 0-100 in 4.5 seconds and 0-100-0 takes only 8.8 seconds. It costs $3Million and will drain the fuel tank in 9 minutes!

As of 2010, the fastest street legal car in top speed is the SSC Ultimate Aero TT which record an offical top speed of 256.18 mph in factory trim. The fastest accelerating car from the factory is the Bugatti Veyron which accelerates from 0 to 160 kph in 5.5 seconds.

That title is currently being held by the SSC Ultimate Aero. IT has a current top speed record of 256 miles per hour and a 0-60 time of 2.3 seconds. Depending on your definition of street legal, there are some drag cars that make be as fast if not faster.

It depends on what you mean by "fast". Currently the car with the fastest top speed is the SSC Ultimate Aero. It will 257 mph and can go from 0 to 60 in 2. 7 seconds. I think the Ultima GTR hold the fastest 0-100-0 time though of 8. 8 seconds.
