Novels do not have theses. Novels have a plot structure, themes, setting, protagonist/antagonist and a host of characters, storylines and subplots. Academic papers have thesis. If you were, for example, writing a paper about the novel, you would propose a thesis for your paper that might, say, explore the ways in which McCarthy uses themes of nature throughout the story.
