Ceramics are generally fired once before applying any glaze, and then fired a second or even third time. Once applying underglaze (making sure not to apply any to the bottom to avoid it sticking in the kiln) fire at the desired temperature. Then after using overglaze, a third firing may be done.

When making pottery it is to be assumed that a certain percentage of your pots will either be damaged in the firing process or the colors of the slip won't turn out the way you had envisioned. Just think of these failures as part of the process and don't try to refire them as this is rarely if ever successful.

Bisque: Same as a first fire. Glaze low fire, go slower than usual, especially if you've encountered pinholing (water still trying to escape). Glaze high fire, generally the same as your first firing unless you're going for a specific glaze technique. I would probably soak the top temp a little longer if you're going for reduction.
