Hermes is often represented by three different symbols. The first one is the caduceus which looks like a rod surrounded by two serpants which are wrapped around the rod like a double helix. Another symbol is is a pair of winged sandals. Another interesting symbol of Hermes is a tortise.
He actually has several (including winged sandals, winged hat, and tortoise shell lyre amongst others) but the most notable is the caducus, a staff with two twining snakes and wings.
