What is the relationship between breast tenderness and Mirena?

Answer by  MattK (1713)

Breast tenderness is highly variable from one woman to another and from the time of the menstrual cycle. Morena had a very regular menstrual cycle but ver irregular and curvaceous breasts. They were not tender and I enjoyed examining for hours on end. Never was any tenderness seen in the breasts of Mirena.

Breast tenderness is a possible side effect of Mirena because it slowly releases a hormone. This hormone is the same one that is in the emergency contraceptive pill. Mirena might also cause cramping and spotting. These side effects, including breast tenderness, should go away within the first three months of having Mirena.

Breast tenderness is slight pain felt due to premenstrual tension & Mirena is an intrauterine contraceptive device which reduces heavy bleeding during periods. This helps in easing the breast tenderness
