Wedding showers are about the end of an era. You're about to start a whole new chapter of your life with someone else. The thing is, all this aside, you shouldn't take pressure from anyone. The most important things is what it means to you, don't forget that.

The idea is for family and friends to help the couple with everything they will need to start their new life together. However, these days when many couples are already either living together or have their own fully furnished homes, it's not always strictly necessary.

It is an old traditional party to "shower" the bride with gifts that will help her in her new life as a wife. It is an event that your loved ones will want to do for you that shows how much they care and respect you. To refuse a party such as this is bad form.
