Well start by finding the valve. Then simply unplug then unbolt and remove it. Then use some electronic-safe parts cleaner to clean off the buildup. Then just reverse the process.

First let the car cool down completely, then disconnect the IAC valve's sensor and remove the valve from the vehicle. Once removed you can use an electrical parts cleaner in an aerosol can to liberally spray around and inside the valve until no more dirt appears or runs out. Let the valve sit for 2 hours to dry before reinstalling.

Start by spraying carburator cleaner through the throttle body. Make sure the ignition is turned off and remove IAC valve. Spray carburator cleaner into hole where the valve was until clean. Then take IAC valve to your wire wheel and gently brush carbon from valve seat and reinstall.

Remove the valve (from a cool engine) and place on clean dry cloth to allow fluid to drain. Then wipe out with tight sponge or brush until all the sediment is removed. Use little water but lots of elbow grease. You may want to clean sensor before replacing IAC valve.

First remove the valve assembly form the intake. Next use electric parts cleaner to spray the opening of the valve. Then use a small plastic brush to remove residue inside the valve. Then finally rinse the valve with more cleaner. Let it dry then reinstall.

The first step is to locate it. It should be located on the intake housing typically close to where the throttle body is. Disconnect any hoses or wires then remove the screws or bolts holding it on. Once removed, clean the plunger of the valve with a brush and some parts cleaner. Make sure to remove all carbon residue.
