In the majority of jurisdictions resisting arrest is a misdemeanor, and will lead to a maximum prison sentence under one year (usually no more than 90 days) and a fine.
The penalty for this varies from state to state. In most states, it could result in jail time, or it could not. It depends upon what, exactly, happened.
Well, it depends on the country, your crime and cops, actually. However, don't ever do this, you might get serious penalty, or at least being beaten by the cops.
