The Penalty for resisting arrest varies from state to state. One penalty common in all states is the beating you will receive from the officer.

GreenTema is soo right! You would rather jail time in place of the a** whipping the officers will give you for resisting. Beside the beating, can you say pepper spray, and the T word all cops love. Taser!!  add a comment

In the majority of jurisdictions resisting arrest is a misdemeanor, and will lead to a maximum prison sentence under one year (usually no more than 90 days) and a fine.

The penalty for this varies from state to state. In most states, it could result in jail time, or it could not. It depends upon what, exactly, happened.

Well, it depends on the country, your crime and cops, actually. However, don't ever do this, you might get serious penalty, or at least being beaten by the cops.
