A long, long time ago, in the lands of Denmark and Norway, began the name Jensen. Interestingly enough, it is a rather common last name-much like our own "Johnson". So common that some people in those countries have actually changed their name to a more unique last name. Ironically, the name means "son of"-changing the name seems contradictory, doesn't it?

I believe the origin is Norwegian, Danish or German. It is believed there was a Jensen family that came from Germany to the United States. They had a kingdom in Schleswig. Why they decided to leave their kingdom and move to the united states is beyond me.

The last name Jensen is Danish, Norwegian, and North German. It is really a shorted version of the name Johannes.
