Treatment for inflammation of gallbladder is either open or laparoscopic surgery. In some cases, percutaneous drainage catheter is inserted into gallbladder and patient is treated with antibiotics till inflammation resolves.

The normal treatment of an inflamed gallbladder is surgical removal. The gallbladder removal will take about an hour and you are put to sleep to have it done. If your general overall health is good recovery should be quick. Most of the time a gallbladder surgery is done and in a few hours you can go home.

An inflamed gallbladder is usually caused by gallstones which are painful and caused by cholesterol or calcium building up and hardening in the organ. You usually need directly injected antibiotics but after that it's advisable to remove the gallbladder to stop it happening again.
