From my experience living In Sydney, Australia, the most commonly smoked cigarettes contain 0. 4, 0. 6 and 0. 6 milligrams of nicotine. 1. 2 to 1. 6 mg is considered very strong.

Nicotine content can vary significantly based on brand. According to a 1998 FTC report, the sales-weighted average was. 88 mg. It also shows a decline over time, however.
