What is the natural habitat of the gecko?

I live in upstate New York and keep two geckos as pets.

The reptile gecko is actually found in many parts of the world,but very often seen in the tropics like the Dominican Republic or Indonesia.The word gecko, in fact,comes from an Indonesian word.A species called the leopard gecko is found in India and Pakistan.geckos like warm,humid climates the best.Many archipelages have them running wild.

There are different kinds of geckos so their natural habitats vary. Mourning geckos are native to Eastern Asia and prefer cool, wooded areas. Leopard geckos prefer areas that are dry and rocky and primarily live on the ground. Tokay geckos live in tropical rain forests.

There are different subspecies of geckos, but many are from the desert regions of Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, and southern central Asia.

Well, the originated in the tropics and tend to live around rocks. Though I would look up the information for your specific gecko before designing their enclosure.
