What is the history of the cherry tree in Pennsylvania?

When was the first one planted and what is its history in the state.

In 1912, the Japanese people gave cherry trees to people of the United States, as a gift of friendship. On April 19, 1912, ninety cherry trees were purchased by the army from Hoopes Brothers and Thomas Company from West Chester, Pennsylvania. The trees were found to be diseased and had to be destroyed.

The Black Cherry (Prunus Serotina)is a native tree with a range extending from Alabama to Canada and the east coast all the way to eastern Texas.
