Barbie, which is an American-made, fashion doll is produced by Mattel Incorporated and was first introduced in 1959. Barbie was created by Ruth Handler who was inspired by a German doll called Bild Lilli. In a series of novels published by Random House in the 1960s, Barbie's full name is given as Barbra Millicent Roberts.

Her real full name of the doll is Barbara "Barbie" Millicent Roberts. The creator named the doll after her own daughter. The little girl used to play with paper dolls and that's why her mother came up with the idea of creating Barbie, although she didn't actually create it, but improved an already existing model, which was not really popular.
