What is the difference in eyelets and brads?

Eyelets are holes to hold buttons in place to keep, say, a jacket closed. The difference between eyelets and brads is that brads use two bendable prongs that would be put through and crossed to hold closed the item of clothing.

Eyeholes hold buttons in one secure position and you can button using a hole. But with brads you have two prongs that are sticking out and crossed together to keep a jacket closed.
