Reflecting telescopes primarily use curved mirrors to enlarge the image. Refracting telescopes enlarge images by bending the light using a series of 2 or more lenses.

Refracting uses a system of lenses to refract or deflect light rays, Reflecting uses mirrors to reflect light rays. Reflectors are used to view the brighter stars and planets.
