What is the difference between millions, billions and trillions?

A million is made up of six zeros, a billion is made up of nine zeros, and a trillion is made up of 12 zeros.

Each of these is related to the others by factors of a thousand. So, A billion is a thousand million. A trillion is a thousand billion, or a million millions.
