Blue-Tooth is a communication technology based on the radio frequency spectrum. It is used primarily in wireless communication devices like phone head sets and wireless keyboards. Infrared sensors use the infrared spectrum. It is only used in directional technologies like remote controls and sensor beams such as in security systems. Blue-tooth, however, can be used omni-directionally.
