A "telegram" refers to the transmitted-written message (or service: like iTelegram/formerly_Western_Union). "Telex" refers to private/public cable/wireless telegram-networks & associated terminal-equipment. Modern computers with appropriate wired/wireless-modems can inter-operate with Telex equipment/networks.
