Megabyte is 1000 times less than a Gigabyte. One Megabyte isn't enough even for an mp3 music song. One Gigabyte is a lot space to have more than 100 music songs. Sometimes even a small movie.

A megabyte is approximately a million and a gigabyte is approximately a billion bytes. The precise values are 1,048,576 and 1,073,741,824 bytes, or 2^20 and 2^30. Some standards organizations (e. g. IEC) use the terms "mebibits" and "gibibits" to avoid confusion with other SI units. However, JEDEC (a memory standards organization) and the rest of the world use megabyte and gigabyte.
