Hairdressers, just like waitresses, depend heavily on their tips. Therefore, I always tip what I would anyone else, about 15% to 20% of the total bill, depending on how good a job they did on my hair. Tipping for a great hair cut will help the hairdresser to remember you and take special care of you when you return.

It depends on how well the stylist did. If the stylist did an amazing job, and your hair looks fabulous, you would probably want to tip them more. It also depends on where you got your haircut. tips should be greater at fancier stylists' than at a cheap one.

The usual and customary amount is 15 percent. However, if the stylist goes above and beyond, then of course it is generally assumed that the amount of the tip will increase accordingly. If you receive less that what is expected in service and results then it appropriate to reflect that in the tip.

Somewhere between 20-25% is a good rule. But if you really like your hair person then you can give them a higher tip.
