Wash white clothes as yoru first load. Then you should proceed to do your medium weight clothes of the same colors together. Lastly you should do any heavy work clothes and then blankets. Remember with each load to inspect items before placing them in the washer and do any necessary pretreatment for stains.

Divide your clothes into three piles: whites, bright colors, and dark colors. Then, do each pile as a separate load: whites in hot water, brights and dark colors in cold or medium-cold water. Use the detergent amount recommended on your detergent bottle.

Check the garment labels. Separate by color, and also anything delicate such as sweaters and lingerie. Wash the dark colored items in cold water, lighter colors can go in warmer water. Cotton items will tend to shrink in the dryer, so use a lower temperature setting or air dry them.
