What is the average life span of ferrets?

My son would like to get a ferret for Christmas, however I need to know more about these animals before I allow that to occur.

First off. Ferrets are a lot of responsibility, so if you think your Son's not up to it, this isn't the pet for him. They can live between 7-10 years when properly cared for. Some have lived up to age 14. They are illegal in Hawaii and California.

Ferrets live to be from 7-9 years old, and well taken care of ones can live as long as 10 years. If you take into considerations vet bills, food, and shelter for a ferret the cost averages about $84. 00 a year so they are less expensive than a dog or a cat.

Ferrets tend to have a life expectancy of about 7 years. To make sure they have healthy lives you have to make sure you buy them the vitamins they need, and take them to the vets regularly to get their shots.

The average life span of a ferret is 6-10 years. Call your local Wildlife Department or Fish and Game Department, humane society, and veterinarian to see if it's legal to own a ferret where you live. Only get a ferret if your son is responsible and you're willing to help him. They're not recommended for children under 6-7 years.
