A male golfer should typically be able to drive the ball at least 220 yards, but in recent years with the advancement in driver technology, some professional players have been able to hit over 300 yards.
Professional golfers hit the driver over 275 yards consistently. A good golfer ( handicap less than 10 ) should be able to hit a drive 240 - 250 yards consistently.
I would say somewhere from 200-300 yards is the driving distance for someone who is good at golf. Professionals however average above 300 yards a drive.
I went to the local driving range for the first time the other day, after a few horrible attemps, I got into a rhythm and my farthest hit (on the fly) was at least 270m. First ever time hitting a golf ball. I am 16 years old.

Who cares, if it's not in play...I saw a guy hit it 360 and I would beat him by 20 strokes...I hit it 290 (6h) and get beat by guys that hit it 240 (2h) add a comment
Silly question. There are extraordinary golfers who hit short and simply awful golfers who hit long. The answer is that you play *your* game. What is *your* average driving distance? Figure that out and build your game around it.
The average driving distance can depend on a number of factors:
Your talent for the game
Age of player
Type of gold clubs
Swing
A persons Size
Strength
Climate
Statistics show that the average driving distance for a good golfer is 250 yards. The average player is 200 to 220.
