Everybody who joins the military goes through one of 65 Military Entrance Processing Station (MEPS)in the U.S. MEPS assures the individual's physical, intellectual and moral fitness for service based on the standards of each branch, the Department of Defense and federal law.

MEPS is an acronym for Military Entrance Processing Station. This isn't just for the Navy, but for all branches of the service. You and your recruiter will hash out the details of your MOS before you sign anything at MEPS.
