Georgia is one of the states that has written arbitration into law. Check first with the tax or county clerk for help on how to proceed. More simply, you can request that your property be re-evaluated and make sure they see it inside and out if you think you're overtaxed- often it has just been over guesstimated from the outside.

If you are not satisfied with the assessment of your property, you have right to request that it be reassessed. If you are still unsatisfied, you could attempt to bring a suit aginst your municipality.

Once you receive your tax bill, you can appeal the value to the board of tax equalization for your county. You will be granted a hearing and you would show why the value is not correct.

After the Civil War northern judges established property values for all the southern states. This was done to specifically avoid tax value disputes.
