Emergent writing is writing that results (emerges) naturally in conjunction with various subjects and learning forms. Instead of limiting writing to writing class, writing is woven through all academic pursuits.

This is the stages of learning to write that every child goes through. They begin by mark making and progress to forming letters. Then 'write' words beginning with shapes and some letters hence emergent writing.
