Depends on the diagnosis. If your puppy has kennel cough, it should be fine after a few days of antibiotic treatment. However, if your puppy has something severe, such as heartworms, your dog may need to have injections of a drug called immiticide that must be injected in the L3 and L4 muscles of the spine. It's a surgical procedure.

First you need to find out why the puppies are coughing and wheezing. It is possible they have kennel cough. If it is kennel cough they need to be treated for it. In older dogs kennel cough is annoying but won't kill them. In puppies if left untreated for very long it can kill them.

Coughing and wheezing can be an indication of a serious problem. A visit to your vet will determine the source of the problem and whether or not medication is needed.

Breathing trouble in puppies is a sign of respiratory infection. It will not go away by itself or with human over the counter medicine. The puppies must go to vet.

Your vet can prescribe antibiotics if the cough is a cold and not related to something more serious like distemper.

Any time puppies or adult dogs start coughing or wheezing they should be checked by a vet. They may have bordetella, or kennel cough and should be treated if this is the case.
