What is cough-variant asthma?

That's what my doctor says I have but I don't understand what it is.

A cough-variant asthma is where the main symptom is a very dry, non-productive cough. Most people who do have coughs, due to the commmon cold and flus, have mucus and are very runny. Cough-variant asthma is most common in young kids who developed ashtma over their childhood years.

It is basically asthma with cough and not shortness of breath as the predominent symptom. It is treated the same, with inhalers. See your doctor for more information on managment.

Cough-variant asthma is a type of asthma that is primary cause is having cough. This causes you to have stress on both your lung fields or an accumulation of mucus leading to difficulty of breathing and later on Asthma. This type of Asthma isn't that serious since it is highly preventable and non-sporadic.

It is a form of asthma associated with a dry cough. Excercise can trigger it. It is not associated with wheezing or shortness of breath. Treatment is similar to asthma.
